Technology and data: the future of healthcare lies here

The healthcare sector is undergoing a profound transformation, driven by the growing importance of data. The ability to collect, integrate and analyze health information is now essential to improving care, optimizing resources, and enabling evidence-based decision-making.

Investments under the PNRR have accelerated the digital transformation of the Italian healthcare system, fostering the development of modern infrastructure and the adoption of new technologies. However, the use of Artificial Intelligence in healthcare remains limited and uneven, mainly due to regulatory and linguistic barriers, even though the necessary technologies are already available.

In this context, data quality has become a critical priority: up-to-date, reliable, and representative information forms the foundation for effective predictive models. Yet the current landscape is still characterized by fragmented systems and entrenched data silos, which hinder interoperability and reduce the overall value of available data.

The migration to the National Strategic Hub will mark a decisive turning point: not only technological, but also cultural. It is an opportunity to rethink information architectures and build a more integrated, intelligent, and data-driven healthcare system, moving beyond the traditional separation between strategic and technological domains. The aim is to overcome fragmentation and redundancy, strengthening data security and governance, and ensuring greater continuity of care for citizens.

Only in this way can innovation translate into real value for patients, healthcare professionals, and the country as a whole
